Only a few short weeks to go!
Submitted by rdonoghue on Fri, 05/15/2009 - 13:23I can't believe that the Tour is in about 3 weeks. It seems like it was just January and now it's almost June.
I'm so excited to welcome everyone to the Tour de Cure on June 6. Our planning committee has been working so hard to ensure that we haven't forgotten a single detail. Now as we get closer, Training Rides are happening, Turn In & Tune Up Days are going on and the fundraising ramps up into full swing.
What a weekend for a Ride!!
Submitted by dwitt84 on Sun, 04/26/2009 - 17:41I got my bike back from being serviced and I went for a ride on Saturday, 14 miles and on Sunday, 20 miles. The weather was great both days, but the wind today was terrible on the way out. On the way back I was able to ride 12 minutes faster, but it was hot.
We are going to try and meet each Saturday at the Hamburg Methodist church parking lot at 8:00 am for a 15-20 mile ride. There can be easy to difficult rides, whatever the group wants. We will ride on Sundays at 1:00 from the Hamburg Village parking lot off Main Street in Hamburg.
Time to get moving!
Submitted by rdonoghue on Thu, 04/16/2009 - 10:17Wow - I can't believe we are only 50 days away from the Tour de Cure! Time is flying by this year and now with what looks like a great week/weekend for riding it's time to start training and fundraising!!
Getting ready to Ride!
Submitted by dwitt84 on Thu, 03/19/2009 - 07:46With the warmer weather I need to get my bike serviced so I can get back out on the road. I miss my long rides and the time it gives me by myself. Going out for a ride after work can help me relax as well as when I get my gym workout in.
I have been involved with the Tour de Cure for three years and I look forward to the ride, preparations for the ride, and helping on the planning committee. We can always use more help in planning, getting volunteers for the day of the event, and ambassadors for the American Diabetes Association.
Dust off those bikes and get in gear!
Submitted by rdonoghue on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 12:28What a great weather weekend we had! On my way to the grocery store on Sunday I saw a group of cyclists traveling on Main Street and thought - yippee... spring is soon to be here. The sunshine and warm weather today and tomorrow have me thinking Tour - Tour - Tour! (I know you all believe that is the only thing I think about anyway .. but at this time of year it's hard to focus on anything else!).
Groundhog Day?
Submitted by rdonoghue on Wed, 02/04/2009 - 11:00So Phil the groundhog saw his shadow on Monday ... but what is most interesting is that no matter what Phil decides - shadow or no shadow almost exactly 6 weeks away is when the first day of Spring, March 21st officially comes. Do you think that is on purpose ? I mean seriously, what are the chances of that!! Is Phil a fraud? Who knows... ?
What is a little snow?
Submitted by rdonoghue on Thu, 01/29/2009 - 09:21In light of the weather yesterday, it is tough to imagine that in just 6 short months we will have a beautiful sunny day at NCCC for the 19th annual Tour de Cure. Let me just say - 19 years that is pretty amazing!! The Tour de Cure has been raising money for the American Diabetes Association for that long here in Western New York.... I'll just say this - in 1991 when the Tour de Cure started - I was graduating from elementary school! Memories... Enough about that ...
