Groundhog Day?

So Phil the groundhog saw his shadow on Monday ... but what is most interesting is that no matter what Phil decides - shadow or no shadow almost exactly 6 weeks away is when the first day of Spring, March 21st officially comes. Do you think that is on purpose ? I mean seriously, what are the chances of that!! Is Phil a fraud? Who knows... ?

I know that it is in February when winter starts to seem really long and spring will never come - and the movie "Groundhog Day" - makes me really think that it is so easy to just do the same thing every day, every day and forget why we're even doing it.. It is a challenge to remember what is important and to get results we need to make a change to our routine. I feel excited and challenged that this year - even in light of the economic situation - the Tour de Cure will reach our fundraising goals. We've made some exciting changes as to how we advertise the ride, including this site, some direct mail postcards, new advertising with a Media Sponsor.

But the best way to reach out to get new riders excited about the ride is through that personal invitation. That means each of you are our Tour de Cure amabassadors - talk up the Tour, invite your friends to ride, invite your family to volunteer. We need to show our collective support of the 140,000 WNYers with diabetes. That number is continuing to rise each day - every 20 seconds of every day someone is diagnosed with diabetes. What you do does make a difference..

Thank you for the random act of kindness I experienced today - this morning I went through the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts - when I got to the window - I was told by the employee inside that the woman in the car ahead of me paid for my tea - THANK YOU ... to the driver of a burgundy pontiac SUV.... I appreciate your kindness - and will pay it forward...
